1.) The Leonardo

Get an interactive experience with the science behind ghosts and fears. Explore the “Spooky Science” exhibit at the Leonardo this year. With a student I.D., one ticket costs $7.95.

“We are hosting our third year of spooky-science learning activities,” said Veronica Vasquez, marketing coordinator for The Leonardo. “College students would love Leo After Hours. It is a presentation on the science of fear itself.”

What could be more suspenseful than a discussion on the ins and outs of fear? To understand why we all hate snakes but go see “Anaconda” on the big screen anyway to view the gory details up close.

2.) Salt Lake City Ghost Tours

Many students know about the daytime tours of SLC, but what others don’t know about is the evening ghost tours of the city. At $18 per student, make a reservation for a haunting, sleepless night that will make students forget about their homework. Ghosts tour guides say it is a great way for students to forget about the stress of classes for one night and get lost in the paranormal.

“All of our stories are true ghost stories,” said Kristin Clay, Salt Lake City ghost tour guide. “We don’t tell a story unless we have a first-hand witness of the ghost sighting. It really takes your mind to another world.”

What did the ghost ask the other ghost? “Do you believe in humans?” Students, if you dare, decide for yourselves if ghosts exist. They don’t haunt, much.

3.) Nightmare on 13th

Grab a date or a group of friends and take the classic route of Nightmare On 13th where year after year the living flesh meets the dead every night during the month of October at a $25 entry fee. This year, the haunted house is celebrating the best of its 25 years of terror.

Some students say this is a great way to forget about classes for a night.

“While I’m not a huge fan of haunted houses, I think it’s a fun thing to do with friends,” said Elaine Thompson, communication major. “I had the stress of simulated terror instead.”

4.) Crazy Corn Maze

Night Stalkers Haunted Trail at the Crazy Corn Maze is a $14 entry fee, with a new attraction made to scare.

“With the new Night Stalker Haunted Trail, we are catering to scare college-aged students,” said Julianna Maynard, co-owner of the Crazy Corn Maze. “We want our customers to be scared and have fun doing it.”

Pib’s Costume Exchange is one local Salt Lake City shop to go to for a quick wardrobe change to celebrate the holidays.

“Our staff is great at making customers’ costume dreams come to life,” said Nej Noel, Pib’s Costume Exchange store manager. “We have so much variety and we cater to everyone.”

Students just spent midterms looking like the living dead. Let’s treat ourselves to a little fun acting like it for a night.

Happy Halloween, Westminster!
