Student workers on campus

The Forum photo team asked student workers what their favorite part of their on-campus job was to show the range of student jobs. See what the students had to say here:  

Name: Alex Cooper
Major: Marketing
Year: Sophomore
Position: Associate director of communications at ASW
Employment: One semester

Cooper spends his free time sketching and developing ideas for his graphic design position at ASW. “Creative expression and having a blank slate to start most projects from is fantastic," Cooper said. "The job is really flexible and works for me. It doesn't even feel like work, to be honest.”

Name: Mia Yang
Major: Public health
Year: Senior
Position: Concierge desk associate
Employment: Two years

Yang welcomes students to the concierge desk, where they can find information on everything from campus events to ski tickets and sporting events. She said her favorite part of the job is “Making connection with people. I have met more people working here in my two years than meeting people around campus.”

"The best part about this job is to work with an amazing group of staff,” Foster said.

Position: Barista at Griff’s Roost

McNeill hands a student a large, cold-brewed iced coffee. His favorite part of the job is "Coffee," he said.

Name: Andres Escobar
Major: Communication
Year: Senior
Position: Student admissions representative in the Admissions Office
Employment: Two years

Escobar said his favorite part about his job “is meeting students who are also passionate for education and helping them see how they fit into the Westminster community.”

Name: Costa Lasiy
Major: Physics
Year: Senior
Position: Assistant manager at the Faculty Technology Center

Costa helps students, professors and faculty on campus keep their gadgets straightened out and running smoothly. “My favorite part of the job is that the IS department is super helpful in everything I do," Lasiy said. "Not only have they taught me a lot, but they always let me put school first.”

Name: Elaine Sheehan
Major: English and Spanish
Year: Sophomore
Position: Junior lead Griffin ambassador
Employment: One year

Sheehan  is in the process of creating a new club for students who want to represent the school and admissions. The club will be recruiting soon, so look out for more information being released in March on how to get involved in the tour guiding jobs on campus.  “The best part of this job is to give tour guides to prospective students," Sheehan said.
 

Name: Hailey Muilenburg
Major: Nursing
Year: First-year
Position: Dean of student's office
Employment: One semester

Muilenburg's said her favorite part of her job is "the staff and learn about what they do. I like to learn about what the office is about and what they do for students.” 

Name: Miguel Villa
Major: Management
Year: Senior
Position: Supervisor at Bon Appetit
Employment: Three years
Villa said his favorite part of his job is how close all the employees are. “Bon Appetit is my family away from home," he said.
