Real Foods Market, located on 2209 E. Highland Dr., provides 100 percent natural and organic products to the Sugar House community.

The store sells natural health products, supplements and sweeteners, as well as products fresh from its farm, Redmond Heritage Farm, which is located an hour outside of Salt Lake City. All of its meat and dairy products are sourced from the farm each week.

“Our mission is to provide wholesome and healing foods from our local farm,” said Julie Lewis, director of health promotions and education. “We want to educate our community on the benefits of eating real foods.”

Maintaining transparency with all of its food and health products is important to the Real Foods Market community, Lewis said.

“We have strict criteria for what we bring into our stores,” Lewis said. “We focus on products that are sustainably produced and good for you. There is no organic junk food here.”

Real Foods Market has a different selection of foods than Whole Foods and prides itself on the unique products it supplies, Lewis said.

“Our raw milk is probably the most unique product we sell,” Lewis said. “It comes from our farm in Redmond, Utah, where the cows are grass-fed. Raw milk is a complete whole food that we consider to be healing.”

There is also a café in the market that cooks meals using natural and organic ingredients from the Redmond Heritage Farm. Its menu consists of made-to-order salads, smoothies, juices, soups and sweet snacks.

“Our wild-caught salmon tacos with sauerkraut are amazing,” Lewis said. “The fish is wild caught and flown in from Alaska. The taste is exceptional, as are the health benefits. We also sell delicious raw milk drinks that are very popular.”

Local food can be more expensive than imported or fast food, but Real Foods Market employees said they want students to know the importance of locally-sourced meals.

“Local, organic food might be more expensive at the register, but it saves us money at the doctor’s office, supports our local economy and our planet,” Lewis said.

  1. The food now a days, which are sold in markets are not fine and best in quality. The natural ingredients of these foods are no longer best and also real food is changed with the organic foods.
