After three straight losses, Griffins go undefeated in weekend games

The Westminster women’s basketball team kicked off the weekend with a win against Fort Lewis College, with a final score of 63-61. The Griffins went on to win their second home game beating Adams State Saturday night, finishing with 65-44.

The Griffins had a strong first quarter shooting five 3-pointers and scoring a total of 24 points. By halftime, Westminster led by nine points but struggled shooting the ball in the second half. 

Going into the fourth quarter, the Griffins led by six points. With one minute left to play, the game was tied at 59 points. Junior Hunter Krebs and senior Kaitlin Toluono both scored giving the Griffins a four point lead to win the game.

On Saturday, senior Rian Rawlings scored 16 points, including four 3-pointers, against Adams State. Krebs also scored 16 points and added nine rebounds. Toluono had a game-high 10 rebounds and junior Kaylee Carlsen recorded four steals.

Westminster led by five points at halftime and entered the fourth quarter up by 15 points. The team scored the first 13 points of the final quarter stretching the lead to 57-29. The lead grew as large as 35 points.

The Griffins currently have an overall record of 19-6 and a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record of 14-5.

The team is back in Colorado next weekend to play against Colorado Christian on Friday and Regis on Saturday.
