Giovale Library moves resources online amid COVID-19 campus closure

The Giovale Library — many students’ home-away-from-home on Westminster’s College campus — has been able to stay connected with students, faculty and staff by keeping resources available through online accessibility and physical book or movie pick-ups.

The library has remained open for pick-up or drop-offs despite the campus closure. However, students can also schedule librarian appointments and receive books through online requests if needed.

Erin Merrill, instruction and outreach librarian at Giovale, said the library is still open for physical items even though resources have also been moved online.

“The majority of our resources are available online via our databases,” Merrill said. “We have a lot of e-books, video collections, and students can access all of that from home.”

Even though Westminster students may be at home anywhere in the world, they can still contact the library for resource help.

“You can email the library and what will happen is: You email us and it goes to all full-time employees and between us we will make sure you get it,” Merrill said.

Students can stay up to date with what the library is doing by following their Twitter page @GiovaleLibrary.

“We have a strong 180 followers, so we are missing a lot of students but we regularly put out the information there,” Merrill said.
