The Westminster men’s lacrosse team was defeated by the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears Friday evening, finishing with a final score of 17-8. It was the first face-off between the two teams.
The Griffins trailed behind in the first quarter by four points and were unable to catch up to the Bears. Junior Spencer Whinery, senior Nick Marcy and first-year Jake Auger each scored two goals. Junior Will Dutton recorded his first goal of the season.
Senior Sean Edwards and junior Jordan Penn split time in the goalie’s net each making seven saves.
Senior Harrison Nye and junior Chance Beutler led the defensive side with five ground balls each.
The Griffins will travel to Wingate, North Carolina, to play against Wingate University on Sunday.
