Men’s basketball ends season with loss to Dixie State

The Westminster men’s basketball team played their last game of the regular season Friday night, losing to Dixie State University, 82-60.

The game started with both teams not scoring for nearly two minutes until senior Alec Monson shot a layup and made a foul shot. Senior Jai Jai Ely followed with a three-pointer, giving the Griffins a six-point lead.

Dixie followed with a three-point shot that led to a 12-0 run for the lead, which they held onto for the rest of the night.
 
Senior Jake Connor led the Griffins with 15 points and Monson scored 11 points. Junior Brandon Warr was just shy of a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.

This was the final game for seniors Connor, Ely, Monson, Daniel Quesenberry, Joonas Tahvanainen, and James Walljasper.

The Griffins ended the season with an overall record of 16-12 and a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record of 11-11 and were one spot short of playing in the RMAC Championship.
