Men’s basketball play highest-scoring game of its season

Westminster men’s basketball hosted two schools from Colorado this weekend, winning one game but falling short in another.

The team played against Regis University Friday night. After a close match, the team ended with a close score or 74-70, giving Regis the win.

Senior Alec Monson was the Griffin’s leading scorer with a total of 17 points. By the end of the night, Monson added nine rebounds, three block and two steals to his career statistics.

Senior Joonas Tahvanainen was another leading scorer with a total of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Jai Jai Ely was close behind, scoring 12 points.

The Griffins returned to the court to host Colorado Christian University Saturday night.

The team secured a 20-point lead to defeat CCU with a final score of 94-73.

Junior Brandon Warr’s was the team’s leading scorer of the night with 20 points.

Tahvanainen scored 17 points, senior James Walljasper had 14 points, with Monson adding 13 points.

Overall, it was the Griffin’s highest-scoring game of the season.

Westminster will host two more conference games next weekend, facing Western Colorado on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday.
